A lot of people are too easily intimidated at the prospect of building their own coat racks, or at least in installing them. This is natural. Whenever you haven't been trained in something you should feel fear about trying to do it. But here in this article I'll guide you through all you need to know about coat rack installation so that you'll finally be able to tackle that project once and for all.
Start out by measuring the space. Coat racks run parallel along the wall so keep that in mind. Do you want to be able to keep using half (or more or less) of the wall for other things after you get the coat rack installed? If so, then you will want to adapt that into your calculations. Studs are a solid place for the screw to dig in and lock into on your coat tree. They tend to have mounts on the back of them but just in case make sure you get them anchored in good when mounting them to the wall.
